All action on Day 1 at the National Schools Lacrosse Championships

Schools from across the UK descended on the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre for the opening day of the 2026 National Schools Lacrosse Championships as our Under 19 competitions got underway with a bang.

Hundreds of the best young lacrosse players in the country took to the pitch for Saturday’s group stage matches to earn their positioning for Day 2’s placing games and knockouts.

Four teams set the early pace in the Under 19A competition, by completing Day 1 with a 100% record to take into tomorrow’s Championship bracket.

School Challenge Cup winners Godolphin underlined their credentials as one of the favourites for the title by winning all six fixtures on Saturday with a +31 goal difference.

However, two teams managed to better that record on the first day of action - Last year’s runner-up St Catherine’s leading the way with a 100% record and +36 goal difference from Group 2, while 2024 winners Moreton Hall also completed a perfect opening day, capped off with victory against recent South East Schools winners Lady Eleanor Holles, and a +34 goal difference.

Guildford High were the only other team to advance to Day 2 with a 100% winning record and looked great defensively, only conceding one goal across their group fixtures.

Last year’s winners Queen Anne’s Caversham were not too far off the pace either, their only blip a tight 4-3 defeat to Bolton School - both teams finishing with a 5-1 record heading into Sunday and will both be teams look out for in the Top 16 Championship bracket.

In the U19B competition, our three 100% record frontrunners are St Catherine’s, Berkhamsted and Putney High.

However, everything is still all to play for on Sunday, and with our Divisional finals in addition to the Championship groups, all teams still have the chance of winning silverware across a bumper day of lacrosse.

Day 2 of the Championships begins tomorrow at 9am with the knockouts getting underway from 1pm before our finals later in the afternoon.
